Kube Studios

Kube Studios Recipe for Success

The most successful people have strict routines. You may have been surprised to hear that your boss wakes up at 4 and does tai-chi in the park or that someone reads 200 pages a night in bed. It’s these routines that fashion consultants also advise to any aspiring models wishing to give themselves the best shot in the business. Kube Studios knows this and loves seeing customers who really make the effort to do themselves proud.

Imagine a string with a series of beads on it. The beads represent your goals, perhaps related to male modelling aspirations, relationships, and priorities. Tip the string this way or that way, and the beads easily slide off and onto the floor. But tie a knot on each end of the string, and the beads stay put. Those knots are your morning and evening routines. They keep the priorities of your life from falling apart and thus help you progress and become a better person.

A strong routine gives you time to moonlight. Don’t quit your job yet; moonlight and hustle in your spare time until your dream job becomes a truly viable option. According to Kube Studios staff, the best time to do that is in the mornings and evenings before and after work. By the end of the day, our willpower reserve is running on empty which results in us being irritable, making poor decisions, and taking the path of least resistance - being pulled down by gravity when we want to soar. When given a choice between going to the gym or playing video games, we’ll choose video games and this doesn't help us develop. Use this time of the day to add value to your life, rather than detract from it and you will go far. Kube Studios

Kube Studios

Kube Studios are the UKs top fashion modelling photography studios. With studios in London, Birmingham and Manchester, we can cater for a wide range of photography needs. Our talented teams will make your day in the studio one to remember. All team members have first hand experience in high end fashion and photography and know exactly what aspiring models need to make a fantastic portfolio that will represent their looks and characters in the best light when applying to major agencies. Here are some fantastic ways to improve your method of doing one of the basic elements of make up, eye liner.

First of all, you have to choose whether you wish to use a powder or liquid eyeliner. If you choose a liquid eyeliner, start by drawing a line as close as you can to the eyelash line, starting at the inner corner and drawing across. A fine line will add discreet emphasis to your eyes, while a thick line will be more striking and make the eyes look bigger. If you draw the line thicker than you wanted, blend it into the eyelid a little using a brush or even just a finger tip. Easy as that! Note that if you are intending to use shadow too, apply this first or it will interfere with your line. Liquid eyeliner is probably the most difficult to apply, so don't worry if it takes a little practice to get the results you want. The make up artists at Kube Studios will attend to your every need so don't concern yourself with trying to do your own make up on the morning of your photo shoot!

If you choose to use a pencil eyeliner they have a tendency to smear and smudge. Don't skimp out and choose by price, go for the best one you can. Go for a retractable pencil version rather than the pencil sharpener ones as they often split and are more likely to snap. Apply shadow after using pencil eyeliner and it will help stop it from smearing. They tend to wear off relatively quickly and shadow helps to make your make up last longer. Kube Studios Shaving Tips

Kube Studios: The Perfect Shave

Kube Studios are London's premier photography studio. Kube specialise in portfolio shoots and modelling shoots but cater for a wide variety of photography needs. In this post Kube Studios look  at the best way to give yourself a wet shave. Men normally prefer wet shaves in the summer as its easier to get a good result when the air temperature is higher. When the skin is cold it goes tight and dries easier which can cause skin to flake after a wet shave. Before you start, wash your face with warm water and dab excess water off with a hot towel before applying a generous layer of shaving foam/gel.

If you do this you're much less likely to nick your skin. Pull the skin tight and go with the grain of the hair. It's a popular misconception that you should shave against the grain. This can give you in growing hair which is quite painful. Try to use as few strokes as possible to avoid over irritating the skin, rinsing the razor in warm water between each stroke. Once you're done, moisturise with a soothing lotion, preferably containing aloe, and avoid traditional alcohol based aftershaves as they can be stingy and dry out the skin.

Kube Studios: The Alkaline Diet Program

Kube Studios: The Alkaline Diet Program

Being in the modelling industry, we hear about all the trends and diets every day in Kube Studios. One that sounded interesting was the Alkaline Diet Program and how it might work for models.

The diet involves eating mostly alkaline foods and aims to keep the body's pH level between 7.35 and 7.45. They suggest eating 80 percent alkaline foods and 20 percent acidic. It may sound easier than it is though!

Which foods are acidic? The majority of foods break down in our bodies into either acidic or alkaline bases. The most alkaline foods are fresh fruit, vegetables, roots, nuts, dates, figs, lemons.. and so forth. Pasta, wheat, dairy, alcohol and meat are unfortunately not and should be avoided according to the program. If you should go for the full diet, replace meat protein with other sources or you might find yourself weak and malnourished.

The benefits of having an alkaline system are numerous and have been studied by many a Phd student. When done properly, and balanced, the diet can improve energy levels, memory, prevent headaches, bloating, heart disease, muscle pain and insomnia. Sounds good right!

Kube Studios: The Real You

Kube Studios Photoshoot Tips

Kube Studios have premises across the UK and also have over 30 staff members dedicated to getting our models portfolios into the hands of the people who pull the strings in the modelling business. Here are some tips on how to dress for your modelling portfolio shoot to let the camera see the real you.

When choosing what to wear for your modelling photo session try to be as realistic as you can. Create a dynamic between your outfit, your body and your face to give a genuine picture of your personal style and personality. Take a selection of outfits and see which works best in the photographer's opinion. The props in the studio may give you some ideas. Glamour and taste do not equate perfectly so strike a balance with accessories and colour choices.

You may find yourself standing around for some time which means you don't want to be wearing heels for hours on end. Take a pair of comfortable pumps or trainers if you decide to wear heels for your shoot. Now, put your shoulders back and head straight and make your modelling shoot a day to remember! Get the Most out of your Shoot at Kube Studios

Wardrobe Tips from Kube Studios

Welcome to Kube Studios, one of the top fashion photography studios in the UK. Here are some tips to help you prepare for your shoot. To find out more about Kube Studios visit our website today.

Looking to get family portraits for the holidays? Or are you a pro photographer with curious clients asking what they should wear to your shoot? Whatever you do, don’t end up on Buzzfeed because of your outfit!

We’ve taken some of the best advice of our in-house pros to share some of their top tips about what you should (and shouldn’t) don the next time you’re getting your picture taken, and included some lovely examples from SmugMug photographers that show just how well a coordinated wardrobe can enhance your final image.

1. Match

Unless you’re going for a specific theme, it’s important to coordinate your outfits without your group all wearing the exact same thing. All plaid or all white can be painfully overpowering in your final image. Give the idea a more modern spin by picking two to three colors that complement each other, or wear different shades of the same color. Spice it up with a favorite accent color, like red, and have everyone wear just a small touch of that. Instant smiles!

Finally, try to avoid having just one person wear a completely different color, especially when that color is very bright or in stark contrast to the rest of the family. This draws the attention just to that person instead of unifying the group. Of course this is fine if that’s the idea you’re going for.

2. Something out of place

It’s important to factor in your shoot location when planning your outfit. You’ll show up very differently when photographed against a plain neutral backdrop than when you’re taking photos in a riotously bright autumn forest!

And let’s not forget about patterns: If you’re wearing plaid or stripes when photographed against a brick wall, you’ll see more lines than a zebra in jail! The result? No one will be able to find your face.

Holiday tip: If you’ve already picked out your holiday card, try planning your outfit around the colors in that design.

3. Loose, baggy clothing

Remember, these photos will be a reminder to your loved ones what you look like when they can’t be with you! Fitted clothes look much more polished and flattering than loose clothes, which can just make you appear boxy. Check the fit of jackets, sweaters or collared shirts, and be sure that the collar won’t obscure your face when you sit down and that the shoulders won’t bunch up.
